Recession Chair..

" Dutch designers Tjep. have reduced part of a mass produced Ikea chair to a skeletal form to evoke the receding state of the global economy.
One corner of the standard chair has been carefully sanded so that hardly any material remains.
The fragile chair can no longer support the weight of a person as, like the economy, it too is diminished."

Some people think it's a great idea. Some think it's different, and some said it's meaningless ! Few said that it is not the role of design to be political!

Yeas, I believe that " Doing things different is not the same as being creative" But this idea is very interesting for sure! Using furniture as a sculpture that evokes an idea or a statement is something I like!   I would like it more if the sanded leg was strong enough ! It's beautiful .. It can be more useful than just a show piece .. that's how we react with the recession.

RED.. offers many Possibilities

Every year, ColourFutures   and AkzoNobel  present one dominant trend,  which all five of the trends and colour palettes stem from. AkzoNobel is one of the  world’s largest paint and coatings manufacturer.
ColourFutures had announced the color of the year & selected RED!

"The colour of the year is a blushy, lively, juicy red. Unusual, but also a solid statement. The reason why it encompasses all 2012 trends is because it spans a whole new spectrum of possibilities. It is at once whimsical and serious, perfect for a tiny accent or for a feature wall. A colour that reminds us not to look for simple solutions, but to put our minds out there, to venture into the unknown where new ideas are waiting to be discovered."

"In 2011, the colour mood was clean, fresh, joyful and charming, with playful, zingy pastels riding the crest of the wave.

2012 is full of take-charge optimism. This translates into full bodied hues with lots of character and meaning, but also into tender, hushedpastels, chic neutrals and edgy brights, which complement each other in stimu-lating, new ways. The complete palette for 2012 can visually represents the world’s new understanding of our need for diversity – of concepts, of viewpoints, of approaches."

ColourFutures  announced on v interesting color trends, will talk about them in some other day!

Keep adding colors to your lives... and it's very important to choose the right color !

That's it for today, enjoy the weather ;)

What color will PANTONE choose for 2012 ?

World wide, designers, manufacturers, retailers & average people are all looking forward to know the color of the year! Let's revise PANTONE colors for the past 3 years!

2009: PANTONE 14-0848 Mimosa
“The color yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”

2010:
PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise
Turquoise evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.
“In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that Turquoise represents an escape to many – taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.”

2011:
PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.
“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

So, PANTONE's forcast experts selected Honeysuckle to be the 2011 color because people need to feel energized. “ After the financial crises, we need a bright color like this to give people a lift, and from a business point of view, to engage customers.” Leatrice Eiseman

After all the rapid political changes & events this year....What color will PANTONE  choose for 2012 ?
Expecting the announcement on December ...
